Easy Eye Makeup Tutorial

Eye makeup can be tricky, but there's no reason to give up hope! Here is an easy step by step process for a flawless eye makeup application every time.

Concealer is helpful to neutralize under eye circles, and it is also important to apply to the darker areas between the inner corner of the eye and the bridge of the nose. The best way to apply concealer is with a concealer brush for an even application. Do not rub your concealer with your fingers because it could damage the delicate skin around the eye area.

• After that, apply an eyeshadow base to your eyelid. This is the best way to keep your eyeshadow from running or smudging for hours at a time. This will also keep the eye makeup from creasing or looking greasy.

• After this, you will begin your eyeshadow application. The easiest way to do this is to choose three complementary eye colors. Apply the medium shade of the three colors completely across the eyelid. Use the darkest color in the crease of the eye, and use the lightest color that is the closest to your skin tone to blend the two colors into your brow bone. This is a very simple application, and you can work up to using other colors in this application, like purples, blues, or charcoals.

• Finish this eyeshadow application with an eyeliner. The easiest way to apply full proof eyeliner is to wet a contour brush, and dip it into the darkest eyeshadow that you have used in the crease of your eye. Apply a line of this eyeshadow as close to your upper lash line as possible, and then use the same method to line the lower lash line. For a softer appearance, smudge the lower lash line with a clean makeup brush or a Q-tip so that it does not look as harsh.

• Next, use a highlighter on the inner corner of your eye. It is best to use a gold or champagne highlighter stick to draw a V on the very inner corner of your eye. Blend well with a clean makeup brush. This will help your eyes to open up completely, though it will still look subtle in the final product.

• Use the same highlighter stick directly underneath your eyebrows, and blend it well with a clean makeup brush or Q-tip. This is another subtle move, but it will work to open up your eyeshadow application underneath the brow.

• Curl your eyelashes gently with an eyelash curler, and apply several coats of a volumizing mascara. It is often helpful to apply a base mascara product, and then follow that with a volumizing mascara.

• If you have a special event, you may want to try a half strip of false eyelashes or lash buds. This is the easiest way to thicken short lashes, and it will look the most natural.
