How To Prepare Your Face For Makeup

skin.jpgThis is the most important step in your facial care regimen, before you get to your makeup. So many women struggle with the final look of their makeup, simply because they are missing a few things in caring for their specific skin type. Do you even know what your skin type is? The four basic skin types are dry, normal, oily, and combination. You can easily tell what type you are by cleansing your face, and deciding how your skin feels immediately afterward. Dry skin types will feel like their skin is very tight and sensitive. Normal skin types will feel just that, normal. Oily skin types will begin to feel oily after cleansing, and combination skin types will only experience oil in the T-zone area after cleansing.

After you have decided your specific skin type, then you need to focus on which makeup remover you are using. If you are going to bed with makeup still on your face, then that is a total no-no! Did you know that your skin will age 13 days for every time that you sleep with your makeup on? I also have to add that many mineral makeup brands do boast that you are able to sleep in their makeup because it is so natural, but I don't recommend it. It is so important to care for your skin at night before you go to bed, and leaving any type of makeup on your face will cause it to age prematurely because it is not given the proper room to breathe. Besides, who wants to wake up with raccoon eyes anyway?

In looking for a makeup remover, it is best to look for one that will suit your skin type without irritating you. For an eye makeup remover, look for something that is water-based and oil-free to remain gentle for your eye area. The delicate skin around your eyes is very thin, which is why it is so important to protect it with a gentle eye makeup remover to avoid any damage to the skin. If you are wearing heavier or waterproof makeup, then you will want to get a more aggressive makeup remover to make sure that everything is taken off before you go to bed.

From there, you can get ready for cleansing, and this is the important part! You need to choose a specific cleanser based on your skin type. Please do not ever use regular bar soap to cleanse because it will strip your skin of moisture and cause it to be irritated and age prematurely in the long run. Oilier skin types do best with gel cleansers because they foam up and control blemishes. This will be perfect for both oily and combination skin types. You may want to use a cream cleanser if your skin is drier to allow your face to be moisturized while you're cleansing it. If you have a normal and less sensitive skin type, you will want to choose an exfoliating cleanser to allow dead skin cells to be sloughed off so that your face will look more radiant than ever.

After that, you need to moisturize. It is so important you moisturize after every single time that you cleanse, even if you are an oily skin type. So many oily skin types want to shy away from moisturizing because they feel like it will cause breakouts. This is absolutely not true! If you are an oily skin type, and you neglect to moisturize, then you will end up drying out your skin even further. This will cause it to create even more oil as a result with the outcome of further breakouts. You are right back where you started! You must moisturize after every single time that you cleanse, regardless of your skin type. Choose a cleanser that is appropriate to your skin type to provide more moisture for drier skin, as well as oil control for oilier skin types. This is a necessary step for a perfect makeup application because many women will have flaky makeup because their skin is too dry, or oil issues with their makeup because their oil production is not under control. The way that your makeup looks will be directly dependent upon the products that you are using.

It is also worthwhile to invest in a serum, which is a way to topically absorb vitamins into your skin after cleansing. This will keep your skin healthy and strong, and it will make your makeup application that much more beautiful in the long run!
