Makeup Artist Tip #2: Covering Blemishes for Flawless Foundation

Flawless FoundationCovering up imperfections  and blemishes on you face can be a tricky and confusing process. By taking into consideration the texture, size and colour of the blemish, anyone can successfully cover up, or even completely disguise unsightly marks on the skin. Below are a few tricks of the trade that explain how coverups are achieved.

 Dark Circles

What you need- A Rich Creamy Concealer with an orange or apricot tint

What to do- Apply a coating of foundation to the area with a wet sponge. with a concealer brush, dab the concealer into the dark areas, starting from the corner of the eye, working your way out to the centre of the lower eyelid and to the eyelash. Set by patting with a damp sponge, and cover with a translucent powder.   

 Blemishes

What you need- A cotton bud, Eye drops, Cakey compact concealer.

What to do- Soak the cotton bud in visine and place in the freezer for 30 min. Place the cotton bud on the pimple to reduce swelling and redness. place a dab of the concealer over the pimple and blend edges. let it dry. Pat translucent powder over the top to stop the concealer moving.    

 Acne Scars

What you need- Cakey concealer, one shade lighter if the scar is pitted, or the same colour as your complextion if the scar is raised. Translucent powder

 What to do- use a pointed brush to fill in the pitted scar without going over the edges. If the scar is raised, lightly cover it with concealer. allow to dry. cover in a translucent powder. 

 Redness 

What you need- Foundation, Creamy concealer, Translucent powder. 

What to do-  apply the foundation, apply a thin coating of skin-matching concealer to the red areas. continue doing so until the redness has disappeared. Leave to set. Cover entire face with tranlucent powder
